History

The Department of Agricultural and Mechanical Engineering (DAME) is one of the five academic Departments in the School of Sustainable Engineering. DAME evolved from the former Department of Agricultural Engineering in the School of Agriculture in 2023.

The Department runs a BSc programme in Agricultural Engineering as well as MPhil/PhD programmes in Agricultural Mechanization and Machinery Technology. The Department admitted it first cohort of sixteen (16) B.Sc. in Agricultural Engineering students in the 2023/2024 academic year.

An academic Department strongly positioned for competitive leadership in agricultural and mechanical engineering education, pioneering research and the dissemination of innovative engineering technologies to promote agricultural production in Ghana and beyond

Mission
  • To promote scholarship in the Department by supporting teaching, research, technical and ancillary staff to achieve academic excellence through increased participation in capacity building training courses, conferences and workshops.
  • To provide excellent educational opportunity in agricultural and mechanical engineering for both undergraduate and graduates students through the development of job/market-oriented programmes and curricula.
  • To train high calibre graduates to acquire sound theoretical knowledge base and practical skills in agricultural engineering for application in the agricultural industry.
  • To undertake problem-solving oriented researches and actively engage in extension programmes to disseminate relevant agricultural engineering technologies to enhance food security.
